What are bohemian wedding dresses?
We all know the term boho as it has become so popular in recent years, but what does the term bohemian wedding dress really mean? Well the boho styling refers to an effortless style of wedding dress. Boho gowns will have light, flowing skirts, sometimes layers of floaty fabrics and easy to wear bodices. Corsets, heavy layers of stiff fabrics are out, while delicate lace is in. Bohemian bridal wear is 1970’s inspired so sleeves are common, as are wide skirts and long trains.
What is a bohemian theme?
As I mentioned above, the boho trend started in the late 1960’s and 1970’s with the flower child era. This is typified by the celebration of nature and all things natural. The boho wedding theme is therefor most importantly one that is dominated by plants, flowers and raw natural elements. If the climate allows, as much of the wedding as possible should be held outdoors. Muted nature tones such as stone, grey, dusty pink, dusty blue and green are good colours to use. Nature should be celebrated in all ways, from the use of flower crowns, to moss and bark table décor. Go wild, literally!

Does this mean they are cheap wedding dresses?
Simply, no. Bohemian is a style, not a price point. Just because the styling is more relaxed, it doesn’t make the garment cheaper to manufacture. In fact, boho dresses can be more pricey as they often require huge amounts of fine lace, layers of fabrics, bead work and other fine detailing.
